Photographed in Illinois Garden
A morning photograph of a new type of Dahlia planted in my Illinois garden. The exaggerated, textured centers are shades of marmalade surrounded by golden orange ray petals suffused with a rosy pink that continues on the petals’ undersides. These radiant blooms are perfect for late summer gardens and bouquets. Anemone form.
These hybrids of species native from Mexico to Colombia hold their display in reserve for mid- to late summer and early fall, when most gardens are looking a little tired.
