Top of the Rock, Big Cedar Lodge, Ridgedale, Missouri Signature Sunset Ceremony. Celebrating the stunning views of sunset at Top of the Rock. You will hear bagpipe music and witness the firing of an authentic Civil War cannon.
The infinity pool features the magnificent “End of the Trail” bronze statue that commemorates the journey of Native Americans and the Ozark region. The statue stands at the highest elevation in Taney County, Missouri, Top of the Rock overlooking the Ozark Mountains and legendary Table Rock Lake.
In 1838 and 1839, as part of Andrew Jackson’s Indian removal policy, the Cherokee nation was forced to give up its lands east of the Mississippi River and to migrate to an area in present-day Oklahoma. The Cherokee people called this journey the “Trail of Tears,” because of its devastating effects. The migrants faced hunger, cease, and exhaustion on the forced march. Over 4,000 out of 15,000 of the Cherokees died.
The first bronze casting of the famous sculpture “End of the Trail” by James Earl Fraser. The casting of the sculpture was commissioned by Waupun Industrialist following the sculpture’s exhibit at the 1915 Exposition. It is in the Forest Mount Cemetery, Waupun, Wisconsin with other memorials.
